What do you do when customer keeps you on waiting and you are ready to start?

I’m a new consultant hire at IT and due to delays at the customers business I’m not getting much to do as it was planned. Situation is known by them and my boss as well. It’s almost a month now, I’m reading forums, wikipedia and blogs for a start, but get not much action. Is waiting a solution?
